Welcome to the Pegasus-III Experiment
- Pegasus is a fusion science research program based in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (Office of Fusion Energy Sciences).
- Our research involves experiments with high temperature plasmas through magnetic confinement in a spherical torus geometry.
- Pegasus allows study of a wide variety of plasma physics phenomena and plays a part in the worldwide effort to develop the scientific understanding of confined plasmas. One promising application of this understanding is development of fusion as a virtually unlimited, environmentally friendly source of energy.
